For a more rustic adventure, the provincial parks, like Bear Creek and Okanagan Lake, are excellent choices, but be sure to book your site well in advance.
01By the Water
Lakeside RV Resorts
There’s nothing quite like waking up to a view of Okanagan Lake. The Kelowna area has several RV parks right on the water, offering direct access to beaches and boating. These spots are perfect for families and anyone looking to enjoy swimming, paddling, and soaking up the summer sun. They are, however, very popular, so booking ahead is essential, especially for July and August.
In Peachland, Todd‘s Lakeside RV is a long-time favourite, putting you within walking distance of the town's charming shops and restaurants. 04Know Before You Go
Reservations, Seasons & Fire Bans
Planning is key to a successful Okanagan camping trip, especially during the peak season from June through early September. For provincial parks, BC Parks changed its reservation system for 2026, opening bookings on a three-month rolling window. This means you can book an arrival date up to three months in advance. For a long weekend in August, for example, you'll need to be ready to book in May. These sites fill up within minutes.
Private campgrounds and RV parks have their own booking systems and timelines, so it's best to contact them directly. Many are open year-round, like Peachland RV Park, catering to long-term stays in the winter. However, the main camping season typically runs from May to October, with many provincial parks having more limited operating dates.
Wildfire risk is a serious concern during Okanagan summers. It is very common for campfire bans to be implemented in July and August. Always check the current fire restrictions before you go. Many campgrounds, like Kelowna Urban Farm and RV Park, provide propane fire pits as an alternative. Obeying all fire bans is mandatory to help keep our communities safe.

- If you can, plan your trip for the shoulder seasons (May, June, September) for easier booking.

05Practical Matters
Bears & Sani-Dumps
When camping in the Okanagan, you are in bear country. Both black and grizzly bears live in the region, and it's crucial to be aware and responsible. Never store food, coolers, or toiletries in your tent. Use the provided food lockers or store these items in your hard-sided vehicle. Keep your campsite clean and pack out everything you pack in. This helps keep both you and the wildlife safe.
For RV users, knowing where to find a sani-dump is essential. Many private RV parks offer sani-dump facilities for registered guests, and some may allow public use for a fee. Provincial parks like Fintry also have sani-stations. For public sani-dumps, check with the local visitor centre for the most up-to-date locations and fees.
The City of Kelowna has previously operated a free sani-dump station at the Kelowna Regional Water Quality Control Centre, but it's wise to confirm its operational hours. Other options can sometimes be found at gas stations or dedicated RV service centres. Planning your route to include a stop at a sani-dump will make for a much smoother trip.

Peachland boasts two excellent options. Peachland RV Park is a year-round facility nestled in the forest, known for its spacious sites and access to the Trepanier Creek Greenway trail system. For those wanting to be right on the water, Todd‘s Lakeside RV is a classic choice, located directly across from the lake and a short walk from the heart of Peachland.
In the Westbank area of West Kelowna, you'll find several parks like West Eagle Campground and Raven's Nest RV. These parks provide a convenient base for exploring the Westside Wine Trail and local beaches. While some parks in this area may be more basic, they offer good access to the amenities of West Kelowna.
