Cannery Lofts redefined urban living in Kelowna with its pioneering loft architecture and thoughtful integration into the city's vibrant Cultural District.
This iconic building, completed in 2005, introduced a unique blend of industrial charm and contemporary design to downtown Kelowna.
Designed by Meiklejohn Architects, in collaboration with Water Street Architects and Alda Pereira Interior Designs, Cannery Lofts was completed in 2005, bringing a fresh 'Urban-Okanagan' aesthetic to Kelowna. The building's construction features a robust combination of wood frame and concrete, accented with exterior Glulam detailing, creating a distinctive presence over its retail-lined concrete parking structure.
Inside, the 60 modernist loft residences offer open layouts with soaring ceilings and expansive windows, while a notable rooftop patio provides a communal space for residents. Its strategic location places residents at the doorstep of the city's dynamic Cultural District, offering immediate access to arts, entertainment, and the waterfront.

The boardwalk, Bernard Avenue and the Cultural District, all on foot
Kelowna North is downtown Kelowna at its most walkable. Okanagan Lake runs along its whole western edge, and the waterfront boardwalk ties it together: from City Park, past the Sails at the foot of Bernard Avenue and Stuart Park, the Kelowna Yacht Club and Tugboat Beach in Waterfront Park, to the lagoons along Sunset Drive and on toward Knox Mountain.
One block inland, Bernard Avenue is the city’s main street, lined with patios, independent boutiques, galleries and cafés, with the lake at the end of every view. Water Street runs north through the Cultural District, past Prospera Place, the Kelowna Community Theatre and the Rotary Centre for the Arts, to the Delta Grand and the yacht club.
Further north, the old industrial blocks along Ellis and St. Paul have become the Brewery District, with taprooms like BNA Brewing and Kettle River Brewing, while Knox Mountain Park’s trails and the sandy beach at Poplar Point give the neighbourhood its outdoor side. It is the rare corner of the Okanagan where you can leave the car parked all week.
